Building a relationship with your toddler is not as easy as it sounds. It can be quite a challenge given that it involves a lot of responsibilities.
It will be hard to enjoy playing or swimming with your child if you have a deadline coming up or a pile of dirty dishes in the sink.
Whether you’ve got an entire day or just 10 minutes, here are some ideas that can help you strengthen your relationship and bond with your toddler.
Read Together
Reading to your child will give him or her social and educational advantages. At the same time, it’s a great opportunity for you to spend quality time together. Books are great for teaching your child about the world and building a connection with them.
Cook Or Bake Together
Making something delicious in the kitchen together may encourage your child to get involved in mealtime preparations and foster a lifelong interest in food. Assign simple tasks to your child like washing vegetables or mixing some batter. You can give them plastic utensils that are safe to use.
Wear Matching Clothes
This might seem simple, but “twinning” with your toddler will make the two of you feel more connected with one another. You don’t have to wear identical outfits; clothes that look similar are fine.
Plan your outfits together and let your toddler have a say in the final outcome. Take advantage of this activity while your kid is still young. Few kids will agree to wear matching outfits with their parents once they reach seven years old.
Be The One To Put Your Toddler To Bed
Come up with a bedtime ritual that will make your toddler look forward to going to bed. Maybe you can play or read together before bedtime. The important part is to focus your attention on your child for at least half an hour or so.
Take An Essential Oil Bath Together
Having a bath together is a fun and practical way to spend time with your child. You can play games and get them cleaned up simultaneously. To make things even better, make sure you prepare toys that will keep your toddler entertained.
Want to make your bath time even more soothing? You can try adding epsom salt to your regular bath water.
