Simple Self Care With A Foot Soak Detox

In March 2021, a group of Americans were surveyed regarding their stress levels with 71% reporting feelings of stress. The same survey was repeated in March of 2022 and the findings showed that while stress was high before, it’s even higher now. A foot soak detox is a simple way to practice simple self-care even during the busiest of schedules.

Survey findings for March of 2022 found that the 71% figure in the previous year had risen to 84%. This means that out of any 100 people an individual sees walking down the street, 84 of them are likely to claim feeling stressed daily. It makes sense – juggling work, family, social outings, daily life, school activities, and anything else that may pop up has made the average American family busier than ever. Rarely does the average person have much time to themselves, with recent studies estimating that the average American has just under 4-and-a-half hours of “me time” per week. 

What happens when stress accumulates with no time for relaxation? It begins rolling over. Self-care time is crucial to tapping into those feelings of relaxation, but how does one best use their “me” time when it’s so limited in the first place? 

A Quick Self-Care Solution 

Finding quick self-care solutions is critical to staying on top of the busyness of everyday life. It gives you that valuable opportunity to shut off while grabbing back the balance between your body and mind. It forces you to slow down, even for just a minute, and helps you to feel refreshed getting back into your everyday schedule. 

Self-care solutions can be simple – like in the case of a detox foot soak. All you need is a tub or soaking basin, warm water, a favorite all-natural epsom salt soak, and about 15 to 20 minutes for a little deep relaxation and a highly effective mind/body reset. 

The Self-Care Foot Detox Ritual Basics 

In the most basic sense, a foot soak ritual is one of the easiest ways to partake in self-care even when your schedule doesn’t allow for a whole lot of free time. This type of soak can be enjoyed at any point in the day, and it lets you take a few moments to yourself for truly effective relaxation time. 

To take a foot soak, first figure out where your soak will take place. A foot soaking basin is a great way to take your foot soak with you, and you may even decide to take your foot soak outdoors so you can enjoy a breath of fresh air at the very same time. You do not need a soaking basin, however, and you may take a foot bath in a standard bathtub as well. The bathtub method may be most beneficial for those who have a private bathroom they can use for a little quiet self-reflection time. 

Once you have your soaking basin or bathtub picked out, fill the vessel with a few inches of comfortably warm water. You want the water to cover the feet up to the ankle, and you want the temperature warm and soothing, but not too hot that it verges on uncomfortable. After your water has filled the tub or basin, it's time to add the soak. 

When taking a foot bath, choose a soak that embodies the feelings you want to manifest. These could be energizing or uplifting in a mid-day soak, or they could be pure soothing relaxation for a soak as part of your pre-bedtime ritual. Detox is an invigorating and soothing soak that works in all situations. Authentic USP grade epsom salt is met with purifying Vitamin C crystals, soft Vitamin E oil, fractionated MCT coconut oil, and essential oils of bright lemon, fresh peppermint, grounding frankincense, and soothing lavender. After your soaking time is done, use a soft towel to pat the feet dry and you’re ready to go on about your day feeling revived. 

Enhancing Your Foot Bath Experience 

Your foot bath experience can be anything you’d like it to be. While practicing mindfulness is a great way to recharge through a busy day, you may use this time to catch up on reading, play a favorite game on a smartphone or tablet, catch up on a television show, do a word puzzle, listen to music, or pamper yourself further. 

With your chosen epsom salt soak, you may even decide to turn the experience into a luxurious home pedicure. After soaking the feet, but before drying off, take a palm-full of soak and gently rub the skin of the feet with the epsom salt in hand. This exfoliates and refreshes the skin of the feet, leaving it feeling soft and renewed. After exfoliating, gently rinse with warm water and pat dry. 

Self-care doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes it’s the simplest rituals that make the biggest impact in showing the self some much needed love.
