How To Take A Sitz Bath 

Taking a sitz bath is simple. First, choose how you’re going to take your bath – either with a sitz bath that attaches to the toilet or in a standard bathtub. In a sitz bath, first attach the bath to the back of the toilet, creating a bath seat on the toilet bowl. While filling the bath with warm water, if any overflow occurs it will spill through the back of the bath and into the toilet bowl making for a mess-free experience. In a standard bathtub, fill the bath with a few inches of warm water; just enough to cover the entire bottom area while sitting in the tub. 

Once the sitz bath or bathtub has been filled, it’s time to add your epsom salt sitz soak. To begin, use about 1 tablespoon of sitz soak per gallon of water and as you get more comfortable with your sitz likes and dislikes, you may move toward 2 tablespoons of soak per gallon as you wish. Agitate the soak in the warm water to ensure it fully dissolves before sitting in your soak. 

A sitz soak takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get the full effect of the warm water, the epsom salt, and the all-natural essential oils. Once the soak is over, raise yourself from the sitz bath or the bathtub, and take care to go slowly. Your body will likely be very relaxed and standing up too quickly may lead to unpleasant sensations. Once standing, pat the area dry with a soft towel.
