Taking a nice, warm bath after an exhausting day is one of the best things you can do for your heart. Here’s why you need to make time for it every day: you should be kind to your body and keep your heart health in check.

How Can Baths Help Your Heart?

A study has found that “frequent tub bathing was significantly associated with a lower risk of hypertension.” The study, published in the journal Heart, observed 30,076 participants aged 40 to 59 years old from 1990 to 2009. The participants had no history of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). They were monitored until the completion of the study at the end of December 2009.

This is great news if you love baths. If you don’t particularly enjoy them, however, now you have a good reason to try them more often. Soaking in a bath is a simple and satisfying way to pamper your heart, so why not go for it?

Daily Warm Baths Or Hot Baths For Managing CVD Risk

According to the study mentioned earlier, a daily hot bath is associated with 28% lower risk of heart disease and 26% lower risk of stroke. The researchers made these findings after comparing the participants’ bath frequency (daily, once or twice weekly, or none at all).

The water temperature can also reduce overall CVD risk. Warm water can lower overall CVD risk by 26%, while hot water can decrease overall CVD risk by 35%. However, the researchers found insufficient data to make a connection between water temperature and overall stroke risk.

The study came with a linked editorial warning against very hot baths that can pose danger to the body. In Japan, where the study was conducted, sudden deaths due to hot baths have been known to occur.

Warm Baths And Pure Epsom Salt

Science has spoken and set the record straight: Warm baths are good for your heart. Now, here’s one thing that a lot of people know for sure: Epsom salt baths are good for your body.
