If you’re struggling to stay awake and your usual cup of coffee is simply not doing its job, then maybe it’s time to try other techniques and tactics that will help you stay awake and productive.
Whether you are feeling bored, exhausted or simply sleepy, here are some of the ways to keep yourself awake:
What’s your work room like? If you want to get things done, t is important to stay away from dim rooms that might make you feel sleepy - this is why it’s never a good idea to try and do work in your bedroom. Dim lights tell your body that it’s time to sleep. If you want to stay awake and productive, make sure that your space for work or study has good lighting. Getting a bit of natural light in your room is always good, but if that’s not possible, installing white light might help.
Do not underestimate the power of getting proper hydration. You should never let it reach a point where you are feeling too “tired” simply because you are thirsty. Make is a point to drink small amounts of water throughout the day. Depending on your physical activity, you should aim for about eight glasses of water per day. Using a jug or tumbler might help monitor your water intake and ensure that you are getting the amount you need.
Do you spend most of your hours inside an office cubicle? It might help you to go out, take a walk and enjoy the warm sunshine in the middle of the day. You can walk to a restaurant during lunchtime to help keep your body clock in check. Staying in the same place and in the same position throughout the day can be terrible for your energy level. If going out is simply impossible, walking around in the office might be enough.
Those who need to pull an all-nighter tend to eat more sugary snacks because they think it will help them stay awake. While sugar might indeed give you a rush of energy, it will later on lead to a “crash,” which will leave you feeling down and sleepy. Try turning to fruits, vegetables and protein instead. You might want to try biting into a nice, crunchy apple, which is known to be as effective as caffeine in keeping people awake.
Do you have chronic tiredness or fatigue? Do you still feel tired even if you’ve had eight hours of sleep? You might be suffering from Magnesium deficiency.
Magnesium is one of the most essential minerals necessary in order to function well but most people don’t realize that they might be lacking this mineral. Magnesium deficiency can lead to a number of problems including fatigue and constant lack of energy.
If you think that you need to increase the Magnesium levels in your body, you might want to try adding Epsom salt to your regular bath water. Made from Magnesium and Sulfate, Epsom salt can help you give the energy-boost you’ve been looking for.
